MARKET REPORT FOR MARCH

Lovely flavours of spring this month. First asparagus is with us - including white and wild. Peas and broad beans now plump and sweet. Wild garlic is with us - some French and very early British harvests from our foragers.

Agretti from Lazio now peak season.

Check out the dark blush on these blood oranges - a class act.

Yorkshire forced rhubarb is in full flow.

It’s a wonderful month for artichokes, with a full range of varieties: Mammole, spikey, Tema, carciofini etc.

Wet garlic in season. Had some batches of excellent round yellow courgettes. Still a good time for radicchios of all kinds.

For something more exotic, perfect Charentais melons from Guadeloupe.
