MARKET REPORT FOR APRIL

Star of the month is asparagus, of course. English supplies now strong. Also buying purple, white and wild - mainly from the Continent. Other homegrown ingredients include wild garlic from our foragers, outdoor rhubarb, purple sprouting and the first Jersey Royals.

Peas and broad beans available. Turkish morels looking terrific. Gariguette strawberries from Portugal and Spain. Other Italian lines include agretti, artichokes, cime di rapa and puntarelle. End of season for blood oranges.
